Our Social Curriculum

At Hermitage, we know how important it is to develop the whole child. We want our pupils to leave our school as well-rounded individuals who are ready to face life's challenges, but have a strong moral purpose. From Nursery, all the way to Year 6, we work hard to develop learning traits such as resilience, resourcefulness and independence of thought. However, being kind to others, accepting people's differences and understanding their place in the community is of equal importance. We achieve this through:

  • Our Caring Code
  • Our 'Daily Reflection' programme (see below for details)
  • Assemblies and class circle time
  • Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic programme
  • Embedding behaviours for learning
  • Developing British Values
  • Teaching Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) Education
  • Developing links with the community
  • Encouraging a culture of giving back through the work of our Community Council
  • Focussing on our 'Hermitage Values'
